"The pieces seemed to be chosen from all through his career, and many made social comments on a range of topics from American politics to advertising to relationship break downs. Some particular favorites that made humorous but relevant comments were ‘The Young Advertising Executive's Award Speech’ and ‘Messy Love’."  read more

July 2012
"...perfect surroundings for the cabaret style of Matthew Strachan who sings his nostalgic, bitter sweet, and slyly humorous numbers at the piano."

"Not all his songs are easy listening. There is some political content - a satirical number called 'Me oh my oh Monica' about a young lady who achieved fame through an American president and a rather salacious number called 'Messy Love' ; Comedy numbers about social networking 'Hands up - who's looking at me?' and about 'Mills and Boon ' novels. My favourite song of his is a wry song about the perfect husband and a jealous would be lover. 'She can do better than him'. But all are interesting. He never repeats himself and it is pure entertainment all the way through."  read more

"As a writer of witty words, as well as a pianist, Strachan’s talents are immense. At times his performance bore more than a nod to Billy Joel with a liberal twist of Tom Lehrer thrown in, mixing humour and wry political comment, with outstanding keyboard skills."
